Since we are all history buffs, then you should know there are literally thousands of historical newsreels that you can watch for free any time you want. They're the perfect resource to add to your child's school project or just to help you bone up on your knowledge of history.

Motion picture technology has only been in existence for 100 years or so. During that century, mankind has witnessed important historical events like the first man on the moon, world wars, amazing technological feats and much more.

Now, modern technology has made it easier than ever to relive those impactful moments.

Whether you're helping your children or grandchildren with school or just trying to bone up on your own knowledge of history, classic newsreels and documentaries are an invaluable resource.

In the past, you'd have to go to the library or track down hard copies of classic reels from special suppliers. But, now anyone with an Internet connection can easily track down videos on YouTube about almost any subject they want to learn about.

If that's not easy enough, there's a specific YouTube channel that's stocked with a ton of great historical footage. It comes from an entertainment and news archive that's been recording the most important moments in history since it became possible.

British Pathe -

Pathé was there at the beginning. It was formed in France in 1896 at the advent of the motion picture camera. By 1908, Pathé had invented the newsreel and subsequently became the world's largest film equipment and production company.

Pathé's London branch documented the 20th century in film, and now those treasures are available to view. All you have to do is visit its YouTube channel and browse through a treasure trove of historical footage.

British Pathé has accumulated more than 3,500 hours of newsreel footage. There are more than 90,000 individual items in this massive historical trove.

From the epic to the everyday, you can witness history unfold around the world. Each video is sorted by subject or you can search by topic. It's the perfect resource for a school project or just a day of interesting video watching.

And don't forget to bookmark this site so you can find it easy the next time you want to look around at what's here:
