M2A1: B Btry 182nd FA. HQ / FDC M2A1 Halftrack.
Sorry its been so long since posting. Been really busy with 1/6th projects. one of the major projects was putting together my HQ FDC Section Finally got them finished. { My Motor City Bad Boys }. I have this Hasbro M3 - 75 mm GMC< Which really didn't fit in the big picture. So to speak. But a M2A1 FDC Halftrack does fit into the big picture. Let the conversion Begin. At the same time I hope I can at least make it a little more closer to the correct height. So Here we go.

Went on to now be this.

Here's the Starting point. Have to still cut out the side storage boxes, redo the rear Armor Plt. and the interior

I got a little more done to my soon to be M2A1. Finally figured out how to get the back end apart. After all the attempts of failure, all I had to do was break it. Got the side storage doors cur out, the new storage box, seat plates made and the rear Plate off. I cut down the rear step bumper from an old 21st Century toys M 3 Scout Car to make the new step bumper for the M2. Here's a few shots of the progress and yes the work on Dedee is on temporary hold. I will need this vehicle for the new upcoming Battle of the Bulge Dio at the Museum.

I now have the new interior roughed in and it is really starting to take shape. I think that I should have done this a long time ago.

Yesterday and this morning I really made progress on the conversion. I really had every intension of going to my little hill top for a shoot, but one thing kept leading to another and this is where it got me. The interior is now installed. All the storage box doors have the hinges installed. The doors all function perfectly. The M 49 mount is now securely mounted as is the skate ring. All that's left to do is a little more Interior work, Radios, 50 Cal ring mount, some clevises on the outer armor and the mine racks. Then she will be ready for paint.

The more I look at this conversion I think to my self { I should have done this a long time ago. } This will be a huge improvement over the old vehicle. Wonder why Hasbro didn't do this vehicle in the first place.

Last night I started on the plotting table for the M2. I started at approximately 20:30and finished at 03:30 in the morning. The table will fold all the way up to the vertical position, drop to the slanted position, or finally go to the table position..

Here's two of the maps I made sitting on the table.

Here's a pic of the tools of the trade. Plotters tools. This set was put together by Slick for me. He did a fantastic job on them.

Now I have the mine racks complete and installed the rear plate completed. also got the extra gas can carrier installed on the rt. side. The M 49 pulpit is now finished too. I think all that's left to do is the windshield glass and the visors. the rifle racks and the radio which is ordered. Here's a few more pics.

Photos doesn't do it justice, in-person is what you need to see. It's amazing compared to the original. Well done David.....
Re: M2A1: B Btry 182nd FA. HQ / FDC M2A1 Halftrack.
It's just about time for paint. the rifle rack is done, as are the seat cushions also.
Got the Radio I needed from EAC. Great Job John. Here's some more progress.
