A few weeks ago I had been requested to do a Ardennes dio. It premiered with the main Battle of the Bulge Event this weekend. So much so it was moved to be the very first display seen. The event opened DEC 13th, this past Saturday. Including 6 actual battle of the bulge veterans. The Event was also covered by lots of media. About 300 in attendance according to the Museum Director. This Dio will remain open to public viewing normal Museum hours. The dio was viewed to be a huge success. Some people had never seen anything like it before.

I did the ground work in two nights from 20:30 till 02:30 Wed and Thur. Then Scott and Myself placed all the figures and vehicles on Friday, Finished at 02:00. This was a combined effort between both of us.

                                                                    Longvilly, Task Force Cherry.

TF Cherry was one of Five Combat Groups sent to various cross road villages out side Bastoge to try to stop the Germans, with the Orders " HOLD AT ALL COST "  Unfortunately for TF Cherry, they literally arrived at Longvilly at the exact same time as the 2nd Pz. Div. did. They literally collided at the main cross road just outside Longvilly. It was a seen of total carnage. Those that could, fell back to the village and held for 24 hrs before being overwhelmed. Here's the Cross Road Story.

TF Cherry 175 Enlisted and Officers Killed or missing -No Survivors-

10 Sherman s, 7 Stuarts, 17 Half tracks destroyed or captured

The Sacrifices made by all the TF's allowed the 101st Ab, 82nd Ab and the 10th armored div to arrive. All the Tfs were able to perform a fighting withdraw and became Bastogne's Defense force under Middleton and McAuliffe. The greman would never get any closer than 1 mile from Bastogne.

I would like to dedicate this shoot to all the vets of that battle.

Hope you all enjoy, Please all coments welcome

                           ps.
On a more somber note one of the vets at the event saw the Dio and sat down and started to, well 'cry' He told me that the personally knew a lot of those men. The Pic of the Killed American in the Half track was his personal friend. Boy did I feel like SHIT. But he told me not to worry about it and that it was a perfect dedication to those that were there.

Those real branches gave it that look of being really cold. I'm quite sure that the Vets saw that, and it brought back reminders of that unforgettable moment in time.

This is one fantastic Diorama! You did a great job on this One of the risks that we take whenever we do I diorama , is that any Veteran that was there, become very emotional, when they see our works in Tribute to them. They DO appreciate it and are quite happy that someone remembers them. I have had this very same thing happen to me, when I do the Diorama at the National D-Day Memorial. You guys made my day with these photos.

Great action dio. You can feel the combat as if it was happening. Only folks that are active modelers in our hobby could appreciate the time that went into putting that dio together. Thanks for sharing.
